The National Hospital Kandy (NH Kandy) is the second largest Hospital in the country with a bed strength of 2741 and is the major tertiary care unit in the Central Province. The hospital also caters the adjoining provinces such as Sabaragamuwa, Northern, Eastern, North Central and North Western. Central Province is the center of the country surrounded by nearby 5 provinces making NH Kandy the apex center for clinical care for 2/3 of the country. Moreover, National Hospital Kandy is the largest tertiary care hospital with all the subspecialties under one roof in Sri Lanka.

NH Kandy offers an uninterrupted specialized clinical (medical, surgical, maternal subspecialties), diagnostic, emergency, outpatient, rehabilitation and other services through more than 145 units including 75 inpatient wards, 12 intensive care units, 11 operating theatres, 52 specialized clinics.
The hospital receives about 275,000 patients per year for inward care and about 1,000,000 clinic patients and nearly 400,000 outpatient patients on average per year.
